Weddings, Hand-Fastings, and Vow Renewals at the Virginia Renaissance Faire
We’d love to host your event!
All ceremonies take place at Marda’s Garden, between the Joust Field and the Royal Court. It’s a relatively quiet spot but close to the festivities. Here are your options – you choose what you’d like to ensure that you both have a uniquely personal and memorable experience.
Garden Rental (required) $150
All ceremonies are held at Marda’s Garden at 11am. Rental includes one hour reserved in the Garden for just you and your family/friends. Rental includes four rustic benches, free admission for the couple, and for the officiant if needed. Optional at no charge, a 10×10 white pop-up set up to protect you both and your officiant from either rain or sun. The rental is for a one hour duration for ceremony, cake, toast, and socializing. You may bring in a cake or order one from our village baker. We will provide a small table for the cake. No other food is permitted without tent rental.
Guests
If the list of guests is submitted and paid for four weeks before the ceremony, those guests will be admitted at the group rate. Any additional guests will need to purchase their own tickets. If the day is sold out, additional tickets may not be available. Officiant
You may bring your own officiant or you may contact our local preferred officiant Pamela Mann at (571) 338.8551, Pamela@heartstarceremonies.com www.heartstarceremonies.com Pamela will create a custom experience for you, whether marriage, vow renewal or handfasting. Fees vary depending on what you’d like to do.
Sword Arch $50
Two of our actors, dressed in noble attire and armed with rapiers, will form a sword arch which the couple will walk under at the close of the ceremony.
Private Tent Rental $300
An approximately 10×12 or larger tent will be set up next to the garden for the private use of you and your guests. You may rent tables and chairs from a local provider or we will include two picnic tables that seat 6 guests each and a 6 foot table for food, gifts, etc. You and your guests will have exclusive use of the tent for the day for meals, private celebration, or just a quiet retreat. Tent rental includes permission to bring in outside food for your guests. You are responsible for clean up of the tent and tables. A cleaning deposit of $100 will be required. Chairs/tables may rented from a local provider or you may bring your own, however, they must be set up by 9:30 am that morning and cannot be removed until 5:30.
Food and Beverage With the garden rental you may bring your own cake at no charge; we can provide a table in the garden for serving. You can also order a cake from our village baker (BakeItYourWay.com). You can also order food from our food vendors. You may bring in outside food (other than cake) only with a tent rental. No outside alcohol is permitted under any circumstances. We have several providers on site – wine, beer, hard cider and mead are available for your toast. We can provide you with the contact information for food and drink vendors.
Music
You may bring in a single, unamplified musician for your ceremony as one of your guests. They may only perform during the ceremony itself. The music should not interfere with the faire’s regularly scheduled entertainment. We may also have musicians available from either our stage acts or our village minstrels. Schedules and prices vary, so we will make recommendations based on your date.
Photography
You may bring in your own photographer as one of your guests. Or you can use our recommended photographer, Fight Guy Photography: https://www.fightguyphotography.com/ . Prices vary per package, no ticket purchases necessary for the FGP team.
