Join the Volunteer Cast of the 2024 Virginia Renaissance Faire!
If you have an interest in history, music or acting, come join us! No experience is necessary – we’ll train you. Auditions will be held at the Central Rappahannock Regional Library. 1201 Caroline St. Fredericksburg, March 16th. No appointment necessary but be prepared to show up to audition at either 1:30, 2:30 or 3:00.
Please prepare a 60 second monologue or be prepared to give a 60 second talk on explaining a particular aspect of a hobby or special interest. It’s okay if it’s not memorized and you need to look at notes. No previous theater experience is required. We will train you in improv, dialect and history. You will need to provide your own costume for the show, however we offer assistance in making, buying or assembling your look. Cast members under the age of 16 will need to have a parent or guardian onsite with them during rehearsals and show dates although the adult can be reading a book under a tree or volunteering for the faire. Cast members between the ages of 13-16 must have a parent or guardian on cast.
Cast members are expected to be able to attend new cast orientation on 6th and then most rehearsals and show dates, rehearsals held weekends beginning April 13th running up to the Show which opens May 11. Questions? Reach out to us at comeplay@varf.org
If you have no interest in performance, but you want to help bring history to life, please consider joining our volunteer crew.
Want to Volunteer for the Virginia Renaissance Faire?
Volunteers earn comp tickets, t-shirts, lots of laughs and camaraderie, not to mention our undying gratitude. All positions allow time to enjoy the show during the day. We are a non-profit organization, volunteer run and led. Your travel, meal and lodging expenses may be tax deductible.
You can help our Green Knights crew with constructions, minor repairs, painting, tree work, bush-whacking, etc., before we open. Or, during the run, help with running errands, water, ice, trash, early parking, daily site set up and tear down.
Retail experience? We could use your help in the Gift Shop.
If you have medical or first aid training, are a nurse or EMT, join our First Aid team that helps to keep our patrons, cast and crew healthy and safe.
Stage managers help keep an eye on our stages and green rooms, as well as sound systems (training provided on sound systems).
ID Check/Front gate: manage lines, check ID for alcoholic beverages, peace tie weapons (training provided)
Social Media and Sponsorships: we could always use people who can populate our social media pages, reach out to obtain sponsorships, gather information for our websites and activities.
We also have a couple of paid positions in ticket sales. Experience in retail, cash handling or simple computer transactions is helpful. Paid positions will require a pre-season interview via Zoom, one training session onsite at the Faire site and a committed schedule of at least five shifts during the faire run.
Interested in any of these? Send us an e-mail at Comeplay@varf.org. Please give us your name, phone number, and if you have a preference for a particular area or special skills that could be of use.
